Please bike-share responsibly

If you work near downtown or Uptown or have visited there in the last few months, you've likely noticed the hundreds of orange, green, yellow and silver bikes parked there waiting to be rented for $1/hour. Bike-share has invaded Dallas, and now the app-enabled two-wheelers have been spotted here in Elmwood – not surprising given our proximity to parks and DART stations.

While it's exciting to have new transportation options, let's be aware that irresponsible users are causing problems along the Katy Trail and elsewhere. For that reason, Dallas 311 has added a functionality to report dumped bikes, which you can do here

We should absolutely embrace this tech, but enjoy it responsibly, by not abandoning bikes on sidewalks or anywhere they could be hit by another vehicle and end up in our creek. When no longer using your bike, please leave it at Hampton Station or Tyler-Vernon Station or at Elmwood Park (off the trail, of course) where another user might find it easily. Help keep your neighbors safe and our public spaces free of clutter, and enjoy the ride!
