PetFest a Success!

By Carolyn Paulk

Thanks to everyone who came to PetFest last Saturday, 5/19. There was a steady stream of neighbors, friends and pets all afternoon. Guests were Dallas Animal Services, SPCA, Dallas Parks & Recreation and Dallas Police Department and M. B. Henderson teacher and Elmwood neighbor, Elena Stephens, teachers and students. There was free face painting and hot dogs thanks to neighbors Adam and Thania of Grassroots Kitchen. Neighbors even brought in a grill and made more hot dogs; it was a fun day with two Pet Parades.

Elmwoof Dog Park received a large donation of dog beds from a manufacturer in Athens, Texas, and these were exchanged for a $10 donation each to Elmwoof Dog Park. Elmwoof collected over $300 in donations. Thank You, Elmwood!

Special thanks to Jeff Castro and Castro's Tree Service for sponsoring PetFest and trimming the Elmwoof trees before the event; and thanks to Tonya Tricomi for renting a truck and driving to Athens to pick up all the dog beds. Volunteers got a new dog bed for helping out. PetFest was a huge success and could become an annual event at Elmwoof. Thanks to all the awesome volunteers!
